Genius

$1,125.00

Picasso, under a word he has never had to earn twice. A mind admired without question. The format is lifted straight from the motivational posters that hang in school hallways and corporate break rooms, one noble word with a tidy definition underneath it.

The portrait is painted first, in latex. Then a single carved stamp goes over the top of it, repeated into a grid, red across his face and the ground behind him. The man is finished before the snakes ever arrive.

He was a genius. He was also, by a great deal of testimony, cruel. The painting does not resolve that and does not try to.

Then one stamp steps out of formation and lands on the word itself, across GENIUS. The grid is the version we all agreed on. The one that breaks rank is the part that was underneath it the whole time.
