The Death of A Bird & Innocence, 18x24" Giclee Print

$125.00

The Death Of A Bird & Innocence is not a memorial—it’s a reckoning. This piece is built from rupture, silence, and the emotional aftermath we rarely speak aloud. It was inspired in part by a childhood memory: growing up in Goliad, Texas, the artist once attempted to bury a group of guineas after a violent storm, not understanding they were still alive. Confused, grieving, and too young to make sense of death or survival, he acted from a place of deep care and profound misunderstanding.

That moment—of trying to give rest to something not yet gone—echoes through this work. The figure here isn’t dissolving so much as unraveling. Identity slips, memories bleed, and the canvas becomes a slow, quiet scream. The title encompasses the two things that have simultaneously happened to and because of the kid and his weapon... his slingshot. Tears run down his face, and a shadow of regret and sorrow covers his face.
The painting doesn’t answer—it just asks with open hands.
